A. No.
Q. I've got a couple of mates on Harleys that would like to come along for the ride?
A. No.
Q. Is it a race?
A. No.
Q. Will there be any dirt road sections?
A. Not this time round (maybe following years).
Q. Can I use my Garmin GPS speedo if I promise I won't use the route planning function?
A. No.
Q. What do I get for my entry fee?
A. The event will carry public liability insurance, you will receive a T-shirt, leg shield banner, and there will be a support van (emergencies only). You'll also get access to the Facebook page.
The organisers are not in it to profit from the event. If there are any monies left in the kitty at the end, we will donate it to the volunteer support crew to go towards petrol costs etc., leaving a small balance to pay for the the following year's merchandise, trophies etc. if possible.
Q. As there is an emergency backup van, do I have to have my own breakdown cover as well?
A. Yes. The support van will only take you and your scooter to the nearest large-ish town. From there you will need to make your own arrangements for recovery.
Q. When is it?
A. See the HOME page!
Q. You said it's challenging, but not a race?
A. The challenge is to get closest to your nominated time. The competitiveness is in the handicap figures, not in being the first across the line or the fastest time. But to win, first you must complete the course, which may be difficult on 40 year old plus motor scooters. That is a challenge in itself.
Q. Can I "scalp" my ticket, if I don't end up going.
A. No, we need to keep track of who's who and on which scooter. If you sign up and don't end up going you forfeit your entry fee, sorry.
